Exhibitor Advisory Council

The Academy has an Exhibitor Advisory Council (EAC) who provides valuable feedback and aids in improving FNCE®.

The Academy’s Exhibitor Advisory Council was created to represent our exhibiting companies, acting as advisers to show management on rules and procedures, and to keep us up-to-date on industry trends and observations.

We are actively soliciting nominations for new EAC members. Each of the new council members must be able to serve a two-year term.

Importance of Working with the Academy

Creating Positive Professional Connections

Positive relationships with industry are vital to developing the careers of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists and Nutrition and Dietetics Technicians, Registered. Selecting the right products and services is an essential element for dietitians who work in a variety of settings from hospital/patient care, food service management, clinical nutrition, and community outreach. Business relationships are important connections and resources for dietitians as they conduct the daily aspects of their jobs, enhance patient’s health and well-being, maximize productivity, and build their knowledge about products, changes and trends. Building future business relationships can help dietitians when a product or service has changed or when an additional product or service is needed. It can also provide a way to enhance the profession.

Building the Relationship

Business relationships are built over time as the RDN and the NDTR progress in her/his career. Paticipating in the myriad of promotional activities throughout the year and more specifically at the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo™ can enhance the relationship-building process, while supporting both professional and sales goals. FNCE®-related promotional activities provide a forum to expand a company’s reach to a greater number of Academy members, and allow time for the development of business relationships. Exhibitors are important to the continuous education of dietitians, providing current product and service information, trend information, and funding for specialty and national educational activities.

Not Being a Buyer Today

Not being a buyer today doesn’t mean that they will never buy. Dietitians and food and nutrition professionals work in a variety of settings, each with its own set of budgetary restrictions. Economics change and needs change. Academy members are each other’s best resource for referrals and references. These references and referrals will include not only comments on the product or service but also on the character and reputation of the company. The investment a company makes in a relationship with a dietitian is far broader than making the sale. A good relationship will reap benefits for the company in both the short term and in the long term. Consider it an investment.

The Academy’s Exhibitor Advisory Council

The Academy Board of Directors recognizes the value of the relationships between businesses, exhibitors and the Academy as an organization. The Exhibitor Advisory Council is the exhibitor’s liaison to the Academy. All of the EAC Members are a valuable resource on-site as well as in advance of the Food & Nutrition Conference & ExpoTM. Their main role is to provide feedback to the Association and recommend improvements for the FNCE® Expo.
Methods for Calculating Return on Investment (RoI)
  • Percent of Goal Achieved: leads gathered ÷ goal = percent of goal
  • Cost per Qualified Lead: amount invested ÷ number of qualified leads = cost/qualified lead
  • Cost per Impression: amount invested ÷ number of visitors = cost per impression
  • Percent of Leads Converted to Sales: number of sales ÷ number of leads = percentage of leads to sales
  • Percent of Total Attendees Attracted: number of leads ÷ number of attendees = percentage of attendees attracted
  • Sales Made per Dollar Spent: amount of sales (in a given time frame) ÷ amount invested = sales per dollar spent
  • Media Impressions: circulation x 2.5 (average pass-along factor) = media impressions [for broadcast, use Nielson or Arbitron ratings]

  • Registered attendees can access the 2021 FNCE® Virtual Platform—including exhibits in the Expo Hall—until May 31, 2022.

Traffic builders such as prize drawings, giveaways, contests and surveys will be permitted upon approval by FNCE®. Booth surveys are for internal use only, and may not be used in advertising, promotions, press releases or any external communications. For review and approval, fill out the Promotions Form

Confirmed exhibitors will receive booth build instructions when available along with exhibit bulletins with helpful tips and reminders.

The priority point system governs assignment of booth space during booth selection appointments. Points are accumulated as follows:

  • One point for participation in the FNCE® virtual event.
  • Two points per 100 square feet of booth space utilized per year for the past five years.
  • Ten bonus points for five consecutive years of exhibiting at FNCE®.
  • The bonus points are forfeited if the exhibitor misses a year during this five-year period.

Educational Sessions do not occur during these times.

Any request to cancel an exhibit booth must be made in writing to Show Management. If space is reduced, the net reduction of space will be treated as a cancellation of that space. For cancellations on or prior to May 3, 2021, exhibitors are liable for 50% of the cost of booth space. After May 3, 2021, no refunds will be provided. No exceptions will be made.

Payments can be made by check (in U.S. funds, payable to Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics), Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Contract must be accompanied by a deposit equal to 50% of the total rental for each booth requested with total balance due May 3, 2021. Applications submitted after May 3, 2021, must be accompanied by payment in full. All applications are subject to review and approval by the Academy and all exhibitors must agree to abide by all requirements, restrictions and obligations set forth in the Rules and Regulations in the Exhibit Application and Contract.

The Call for Sessions for FNCE® has closed. Opportunities to present research, food and nutrition information, culinary demos and breaking news are included in the 2021 FNCE® Exhibitor Supporter Packages. For more information, contact Daun Longshore at dlongshore@eatright.org.

Within the Academy are 26 dietetic practice groups (DPGs) that provide focus for specialized areas of practice. Several of the DPGs host in-person symposiums in the spring of each year and year-round virtual, educational events.

The Academy also maintains 53 affiliate organizations. These geographically affiliated organizations include the 50 states, Puerto Rico, the District of Columbia and the International Affiliate of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Although affiliated with the Academy, many of these organizations plan their own events throughout the spring and several in the fall.
