Melissa Majumdar is the bariatric coordinator with Emory University Midtown where she has helped implement the bariatric surgery and gynecology services enhanced recovery pathways. She has spent the last decade of her career focused on the care of the bariatric surgery patient. She serves as an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics national media spokesperson, providing the media and consumer with science-based nutrition information. She volunteers with the Weight Management Dietetic Practice Group as Nominating Committee Director and symposium planning committee as well as being active at the national and local level for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She is co-editor of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Pocket Guide to Bariatric Surgery, 3rd edition, slated for publication Fall 2021, and is a Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management. Melissa has a masters degree in Fitness and Nutrition from Northeastern University and spends her free time running, kayaking, and cooking with her husband and 2 kids in the Atlanta suburbs.
