Angela Miney is the Family Leader at the UF Pediatric Pulmonary Center (PPC), a Maternal and Child Health Bureau funded interdisciplinary training program. Angela is the parent of a young adult with a chronic health condition and she educates dietetic interns, students, and faculty in the health professions on the principles of Patient and Family Centered care (PFCC). Angela has collaborated with leadership at large academic medical centers to ensure the patient voice is incorporated into systems improvement from bedside to boardroom. She has presented from local to international conferences on PFCC. Angela has developed a family leader curriculum with other family leaders across the nation. She is the founder and coordinator of the Florida Family Leader Network, (FFLN) a collaborative effort between family leaders and health professionals in Florida. The FFLN is comprised of family, youth, and professionals with the goal of strengthening leadership skills and increasing the partnership between all groups. In 2021, the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs awarded Angela the Merle McPherson Leadership Award for exemplary contributions to further family/professional collaborations within state Title V Programs and AMCHP.
