Andrea Hinojosa, MS, RDN, LDN, CLC
Director of Nutrition Services
Andrea Hinojosa is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and certified lactation counselor (CLC). She is also a credentialed Early Intervention Specialist in the State of Illinois. She completed her bachelors at Dominican University and her masters degree and dietetic internship at Loyola University Chicago.
Andrea is the first registered dietitian to specialize in prenatal mental health for the state of Illinois and the first and only nutrition student and RD to nationally be accepted into the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship. As part of the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship Chapter in Chicago, Andrea has partnered with Near North Health Service Corporation (NNHSC) and BUILD Inc. to increase the exposure of farmers, nutrition, and locally farmed produce to the Chicago community to assess food insecurity and nutrition knowledge and awareness. Right before and during the COVID-19 pandemic she used gardening and hydroponics as a way to teach families more about nutrition and wellness.
Andrea shares her personal and professional experience to provide individualize care for each of her patients. Her passion for integrative nutrition medicine, research, public health, and social justice and civic engagement has provided her the experience of doing nutrition research and work in Bolivia, Cuba, Guatemala, Haiti, France, and Vietnam.
Other things that Andrea enjoys doing when not doing nutrition or research related things: traveling, walking, films and Netflix, photography, anything to do with animals, and reading. She has a dog name Zen that is half Akita and half pit bull and a kitten named Michi who is a calico kitten!
