Valerie Shurley, MBA, MS, RDN, CD, holds an MBA with a focus on Leadership, an MS in Family and Consumer Sciences, Specializing in Nutrition, and a BS in Kinesiology – Health Promotion and Fitness. As a Regional Clinical Nutrition Manager with Touchpoint Support Services in Wisconsin, Valerie currently manages 16 employees in clinical nutrition at 3 hospitals and 2 outpatient clinics, provides support for an additional 12 hospitals and oversees a $1.1 million-dollar budget. An organized and systems level thinker with a strong operational and business mindset, Valerie has created numerous clinical, patient services and operational program improvement initiatives by collecting and analyzing data and making appropriate recommendations to key stakeholders. She has implemented state-wide standardization initiatives, including those addressing electronic documentation, malnutrition, coding and billing, patient dining, productivity, and policies and procedures. She successfully provided guidance for clinical expansion outside of the traditional inpatient role, including a telehealth expansion program.

Valerie is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Wisconsin affiliate, she is currently serving on the Nutrition Services Payment Committee and Delegate to the Academy for Wisconsin. She was awarded TouchPoint Clinician of the Year 2019, Emerging Dietetic Leader 2018 and received St. Davids Hall of Fame Award in 2014. In 2013 she was appointed to The Texas State Board of Examiners of Dietitians by Governor Rick Perry. Valerie has spoken at numerous regional conferences and provided guest lectures at universities in Texas and Wisconsin.
