Maximize your Membership with a DPG/MIG

Visit the DPG/MIG booth during FNCE® to learn how to get involved with niche practice and interest groups. DPGs enable members to enhance their specialized knowledge, advance their careers, and establish relationships with colleagues in the same area of practice. MIGs connect members who share a common interest, issues or backgrounds.

DPGs and MIGs offer year-round cutting edge virtual learning opportunities, content experts, networking opportunities and online communities. Membership is open to any Academy member regardless of career stage, area of practice or interests. Visit the DPG/MIG Booth during FNCE® to learn more about any of the 34 groups, ask questions and download examples of member benefits.

DPG and MIG “Attendee Lounge Takeover” Sessions

Are you looking to talk with your colleagues? Do you want to continue conversations following educational sessions? Are you looking to learn more about your practice or interest area? Throughout FNCE®, each DPG and MIG will be hosting a “takeover” of the attendee lounge providing you the opportunity to connect with mentors and experts in the field. These take overs are open to any attendee.

Practice and Interest Area Social Events – Hosted by DPGs and MIGs

Don’t miss catching up with your peers, hearing advice from mentors and participating in fun networking events during FNCE®. Dietetic practice groups and member interest groups are offering ways for you to relax and connect. DPG/MIG membership is not required to participate and there are no additional costs to attend. Renal Dietitians DPG Plant Based Cooking Demo

Join the Renal Dietitians for a plant-based cooking demo and giveaways. Melanie Betz MS, RD, CSR, CSG, LDN will be leading us through plant-based appetizers and drinks. This event is to be a relaxed time to enjoy. It is open to all RPG members and to nonmembers. Please RSVP via email to chair@renalnutrition.org to be sent the recipes prior to the event. Destress and Refresh: Women’s Health DPG Relax and Mingle Event

Join Women’s Health DPG for a virtual event to destress, refresh, and mingle with women’s health professionals during our relaxation and social hour! It will include dynamic meditation (movement and laughing, yes laughing) as well as a guided meditation, followed by time to meet, and mingle in breakout rooms. Dietitians in Integrative & Functional Medicine Reception: Sage Advice on Medicinal Herb Gardening

Dietitians in the Garden co-founder and owner of Amrie’s Homegrown, Amrie DeFrates RD, will provide attendees with herbal gardening how-to’s and herb-focused recipe creation for optimal health. We will also be celebrating our 2021 awards winners including the Excellence in Service Award, Visionary Award, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Awards. Nutrition Education for the Public DPG Business Meeting, Networking Event & Careers in Nutrition Education Speaker Panel

Nutrition Education for the Public DPG members and non-members are welcome to join this virtual event! We will begin with a brief business meeting to share DPG updates, member accomplishments, and key benefits of joining NEP (15 min). Next, we will have some fun with a virtual game complete with giveaways (15 min). Our event will conclude with a panel discussion and Q&A session designed for students and young professionals, but all are welcome to attend (60 min). Show Up and Get Your D’s In at FNCE®!  Dietitians in Business and Communications DPG invites you to have a seat at its Virtual FNCE® Gala Table, benefiting the Academy Foundation. Join DBC to “Drink, Dine, Donate, and Discuss”,  where you can network, celebrate the profession, share learnings, and support the Academy Foundation. DBC members and non-members welcome! Students can enjoy free networking and discussions, while professionals are encouraged to provide the Academy Foundation with a minimum donation of $25 to participate. Note: this is a suggested donation; give what you can, and then join DBC for a lively discussion on relevant, current topics: Academy Foundation Role; Food as medicine and what that means to the business and communications expert*; How to effectively communicate no matter what your professional setting*.  *Both event topics are also FNCE® education sessions that occur prior to the DBC “Dine, Drink, Donate, and Discuss” event.

Sports and Human Performance Nutrition Inaugural Reception: Insights From Olympic Sports Dietitians, Giveaways, and More!

Join Sports and Human Performance Nutrition leaders for a virtual happy hour that will include an engaging discussion with two Olympic sports dietitians and an exciting virtual prize giveaway! SHPN is honored to have two Olympic sports dietitians join this event to present on their “Lessons from the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics”. This presentation will provide an insight into fueling the best athletes in the world and the challenges of international travel and food safety during a pandemic. Ten lucky attendees will have the chance for a free SHPN membership for the upcoming year, and we will also be giving away one SCAN (SHPN) Sports Nutrition Manual (aka the Yellow Book). Lastly, we will have a few spots available for a new mentoring option entitled “After Hours with the Expert”. This is a virtual happy hour where you can grab your favorite beverage and do a virtual meet up with a seasoned sports dietitian to ask for career advice, interview tips, and any other sports nutrition advice you might need. This program is free and available to all Academy members and FNCE® attendees who might be interested in learning more about Sports and Human Performance Nutrition.

Indians in Nutrition and Dietetics MIG Networking Reception – Yogic Movement: A Glimpse into Indian Classical Dance

Join the Indians in Nutrition and Dietetics MIG and Prachi Dixit, Founder-Director of Nupur Academy LA as she guides us towards the systematic flow of energy. This will be an interactive experience with a presentation of a classical Indian dance that features the masculine and feminine energy present within each of us.
